Located in the northwest corner of City Park since 1971, the two-story Pottery Studio serves as an educational and recreational facility that offers broad and diverse classes, opportunities and artistic adventures for students of all ages. Participants can learn a wide range of basic clay techniques including the use of a potter’s wheel, hand-building, forming, construction, surface treatment, and a variety of methods to decorate and glaze ceramic ware.

The facility includes a pottery library with periodicals and reference books, including more than 65 videos of performing potters and hundreds of pottery examples.


Private Lessons at The Pottery Studio

Private lessons offer a personalized way to explore pottery, whether you're new to clay or want to build on existing skills. Lessons are designed for 1-2 people and are available for all experience levels.


Rentals at The Pottery Studio

Host your next event, small group, birthday party or staff gathering at The Pottery Studio! The studio accommodates up to 10 guests and offers a unique, hands-on way to celebrate together.

Choose from handbuilding or wheel throwing:

  • Handbuilding uses techniques such as pinch pots, slabs and coils to shape clay by hand.
  • Wheel throwing uses a spinning pottery wheel to create decorative or functional pieces with a round, symmetrical base.
